Call for greater EU R&D expenditure

THE director general of Science Foundation Ireland has stressed the need for increased expenditure levels in European research.

He was speaking at a conference on the Future of Science and Technology in Europe, organised by the European Commission Directorate General for Research. The EU plans to raise expenditure on R&D to 3% of GDP by 2010.
