Market makes strong advance

THE Irish market had a very strong day yesterday as financial stocks moved significantly upward.

The ISEQ index was up 261.28 or over 3% to 8,245.07.

The financials made up four of the top five leading moving stocks on the exchange. AIB and Bank of Ireland were 35c and 46.6c better off at €17.64 and €13.56. The former having peaked at €18.37 during trading. Anglo-Irish increased 94c to €13.95 while Irish Life and Permanent followed the trend gaining 130.5c to €17.50.
