Market recovers after early slump

THE ISEQ recovered yesterday having slumped below 8,000 early on. The index closed down 3.21 points to 8,104.28.

Financials were mixed with AIB adding 9c to €17.80 and Bank of Ireland dropping 19c to €12.29. Anglo-Irish was 5c lower at €13.50 while Irish Life & Permanent strengthened 11.7c to €16.37.

In construction CRH was 25c lower at €29.25 despite its acquisition of four materials businesses in the US for $350m. Grafton Group shed 15c to €9.10, Kingspan fell 54c to €17.36 while McInerney eased back 3c to €2.09.
