Ethnic minority entrepreneurs

The Small Firms Association (SFA) has called on the Government to provide funding for ethnic minority entrepreneurs, saying they represent an “untapped pool of entrepreneurial ability in Ireland”.

SFA director and chair of the Emerge Development Partnership Patricia Callan said that excessive regulatory barriers exist to non-nationals starting a business here and the Government should allocate funding to provide training supports to ethnic minority entrepreneurs.

“Non-nationals now make up over 10% our workforce, at 200,000 people, and clearly represent an untapped pool of entrepreneurial talent in Ireland,” Ms Callan said.
