Elan may close San Diego offices

ACCORDING to local reports, Irish pharmaceutical firm Elan is planning to close its San Diego offices and consolidate jobs in its San Francisco facility in an effort to cut costs and regain profitability.

Elan has had a base in San Diego for the past seven years. Last year, however, it cut more than 100 jobs there. Apparently the company has said it is unclear as to how many jobs will be affected this time around, but said legal/ administration and R&D positions would be affected.
