THE ISEQ Index continued on from last week’s dismal run, as the financials and Elan dragged the market down.

Struggling financials hit market

The Irish exchange closed 101.57 lower at 8,255.83.

The banking sector was down as Bank of Ireland fell 25c to €13.40 and Anglo Irish also lost 33c to close at €13.25. AIB slipped 2c to €18.18 and on a brighter note Irish Life & Permanent climbed 10c to €16.99.
