IRISH exports fell 3.1% in May, while imports rose 2.7%, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The statistics showed Ireland’s trade surplus narrowed 14% to €2.37 billion as exports declined to €7.39bn, on a seasonally adjusted basis, and imports rose to €5.02bn.

Davy economist Rossa White said: “The recovery in goods exports was a key factor behind healthy growth in the economy in the first half.
