Lamb prices at season low

LAMB prices are going through one of the worst declines in prices year to date which has reduced returns to producers by up to 28c/kg (10p/lb) within two weeks.

Yesterday prices at the factories fell by a further 3c/kg (1p/lb) on the back of a decline of up to 20c/kg (7p/lb) over the past week continuing a two-week decline which has been the worst year to date for producers.

The fall in prices has extended to the live sales at the marts where prices have fallen by up to €5 per head this week for the factory lambs, while prices have held firmer for butchers’ lambs.
