THE ISEQ index closed marginally down yesterday with little news flow.

The exchange was 2.19 lower at 9,701.49.

A mixed day for the financials saw AIB climbing 18c to 22.88 while rival Bank of Ireland tumbled 20c to 16.35. Anglo-Irish gained 25c to €16.65 while Irish Life & Permanent closed 7c weaker at €20.73.

In construction, CRH shed 17c to €32.29, Grafton added 7c to €11.52, while Kingspan lost 14c to €20.65. McInerney climbed 6c to €15.34 on the day.

Elsewhere, C&C lost 24.2c to €12.35 with over 2.1 million shares traded.
