Yesterday’s reports of record-high eurozone money supplies led to speculation of further ECB interest rate hikes.

ISEQ moves lower on rate speculation

The Dublin market and more specifically the financials reacted to the news negatively and lost considerable ground. The ISEQ was off 109 points at 9,269.64.

AIB and Bank of Ireland shed 68c and 26c to €21.82 and €15.89 respectively. Anglo-Irish followed suit losing 32c to €15.95, while Irish Life and Permanent remained solid at €19.65.
