THE current weather conditions are difficult for farmers at a very important time of the year, according to IFA president Padraig Walshe.

He said the sowing of crops is two to three weeks behind schedule because of the ground conditions. On farms with heavier soil, there is land that hasn’t even been ploughed yet.

“Farmers would expect to have planted by now and weather prospects for this week are not good.”
