Dairygold urged to use Irish pig meat

IFA pigs committee chairman Michael Maguire yesterday called on Dairygold to honour its commitment to Irish pig producers by using locally sourced pig meat.

He said that there was a noticeable increase over recent months in Galtee products in shops that do not have the Bord Bia Quality Assured logo.

“When the Galtee plant in Mitchelstown closed down in 2004, a commitment was given to the suppliers by Dairygold that they would continue to purchase the same quantities of Irish pig meat to be used in the Galtee and Shaw product ranges,” he said.
