AIB to raise rate of interest on savings

INCREASED interest rates across a range of lump sum savings accounts were announced by Anglo Irish Bank (AIB) yesterday.

The 30-day notice account increases from 3.75% to 4% with effect from December 29. The easy access account rate increases to 3.5%, while the seven-day notice account increases to 3.6% from today.

All accounts provide a minimum ECB rate guarantee until January 2009.
