Argentine to restrict beef exports

Marts: The reintroduction of restrictions on exports of beef by the Argentinean Government — which appears to be imminent — should benefit demand for Irish been in British and European markets in 2007.

Argentine to restrict beef exports

Restrictions on exports which were imposed by the Government in Argentine early in 2006, have been phased down in stages over the past five months, but a review of the impact of the export trade, which is expected to be announced shortly, is likely to lead to additional restrictions on exports in an effort to control inflation in the South American country.

The restrictions were originally imposed to control rising inflation, because of the rapid escalation in the price of beef in the country.
