Plastics factory to shed 27 jobs

TWENTY-SEVEN jobs are to go at a Clare Plastics Factory despite the firm’s plans for expansion, it emerged yesterday.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Ireland is to make a €3 million investment in manufacturing at its Kilrush plant, securing the future of 72 jobs.

However, the company confirmed 27 employees will lose their jobs over the next year. It laid-off 14 staff last year and hopes to achieve the latest job cuts through voluntary redundancy.
