Exports fall by 9% in September

SEPTEMBER proved a bad month for Irish exports, with a 9% month-on-month decline measured compared to August. Latest figures, published yesterday by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), also showed a 3% rolling month-on-month decline in imports for September.

In contrast, August’s export figures showed a 4% rise on the previous month while imports in August rose by 6% on July.

The new CSO figures also illustrate how Ireland’s external trade performance has measured up over the past 12 months.
