THE European Commission said it has approved up to €500,000 a year in start-up state aid for a Ryanair service linking Toulon and London.

The aid will be provided by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Var for the service between Toulon’s Hyeres airport and London Stansted, the commission said in a statement.

“The aid will take the form of route-specific marketing related to the launch and ongoing promotion of the route,” it said, adding that the ruling was in line with previous commission decisions.
