THE horticultural sector was urged yesterday to be vigilant in the production and sourcing of plant materials for nurseries and gardens.

Minister of State Brendan Smith said the Department of Agriculture and Food plays its part by endeavouring to minimise pest and disease threats posed by plant imports.

“With everybody’s help our plant health system will continue to operate well and we can enjoy exotic plants without introducing foreign pests and diseases,” he said.
