Demand was weaker for light store cattle, with fewer farmers buying, which resulted in a drop of up to €20/head at yesterday’s mart sales.

Scarce grass supply affects prices

The dry weather led to slower grass growth on farms and, with the supply of grass now tight on intensively stocked farms, there were fewer farmers to buy cattle at the sales.

Prices were easier for all except the near finished beef animals with the light stores a harder sell at lower prices.
