It was another bleak day as European bourses continued to decline. The ISEQ Index shed 238.10 points to close below at 6,954.02.

Banking stocks once again led the fall with the sector losing 445.60. AIB dropped €1 to €16.75 with over 3 million shares changing hands. Bank of Ireland was 25c weaker at €13.10 while on the second line Anglo-Irish was down 30c with Irish Life & Permanent falling 40c to €17.30.

In construction, giant CRH had another turbulent day closing 80c lower at €22.90. Kingspan declined 57c to €12.15, Grafton Group lost 35c to €9.40 while McInerney closed 60c weaker at €11.20.
