A SMALL amount of training could significantly improve health and safety on farms, according to Teagasc — the agricultural development authority.

Teagasc health and safety officer John McNamara said: “Attendance at a short training course on farm safety and health is vital to improving the accident and health record of the sector. The safety record on farms has deteriorated with farm deaths rising from 13 in 2004 to 18 in 2005.”
