FARMERS are demanding that the problems in their sector be directly addressed in the proper forum, the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association president Jackie Cahill declared yesterday.

He said they are also demanding that no one issue be allowed to prevent the agreement necessary for the funding elements of the next national development plan to be put in place.

Mr Cahill said the ICMSA believed that representing the interests of farmers meant being at the centre of the decisions being taken and that, in turn, meant participation in social partnership.
