THE ISEQ began the week in the red yesterday, mirroring other declines across Europe.

Profit-taking weighed on the index, which shed 20.07 points to 6402.83.

The financial stocks were weaker, with the sector losing 123.98 points overall on modest trading volumes. AIB gave up 29c to €17.21, while Bank of Ireland slipped to €12.89. Anglo Irish and Irish Life & Permanent fell 12c and 5c respectively.
