THE ISEQ fell 3.96 points to 6146.61 yesterday. The financials marked time on a day of consolidation.

Market slips in quiet trading

AIB were unchanged, with only 260,000 shares changing hands. Rival Bank of Ireland had little forward momentum, closing marginally up 3c to €12.00. Anglo Irish and Irish Life & Permanent finished at €17.85 and €13.60 respectively.

Irish Pharmaceutical Elan, dogged by very little current news-flow, lagged the market by shedding 30c to €19.30. In contrast, United Drug advanced 12c to €3.48.
