Mixed day for financial sector

THE Dublin market traded in the red throughout yesterday, and finished weaker for the first day this week. European bourses were mainly stronger, while the ISEQ closed at 6157.62, just 1.93 points lower.

The financials were mixed. Anglo Irish Bank gained 30c to €9.95 with over three million shares changing hands. AIB slipped 20c to €16.30, while Bank of Ireland added 5c to €12.45. Irish Life & Permanent stock closed 7c lighter at €13.55.

In construction, CRH fell 5c to €20.55 while McInerney strengthened to €8.00. Kingspan was steady at €8.85, while Grafton Group slid to €8.72.
