RYANAIR quashed employees’ fears of a pay freeze yesterday when it confirmed a 3% pay rise for all staff.

But the no-frills airline denied this was a positive signal for the future and said its outlook for fares and passenger yields remained pessimistic.

The increase will add approximately €3.5 million to the airline's wage bill and give pilots an extra €2,000 per year. The pay rise will be backdated to the start of last month.
