EU increases milk export refunds

Brussels: EXPORT refunds for skim milk powder were increased at yesterday's meeting of the EU milk management committee in Brussels.

Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh, who met with co-op chiefs earlier this week, said the 16% increase from 440/tonne to 510/tonne was very welcome.

Ireland had asked for support, particularly on the protein side, where marketing conditions had again become difficult.
