THE tills kept ringing for Irish retailers in August, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Buoyant consumer spending has ‘continued unchecked’

The CSO yesterday said retail sales were 4.2% higher than the same month last year, when measured in volume terms. The increase was 5.7% in value terms.

The latest figures showed sales increased by 1.7% in both value and volume terms during the month of August alone.
