Optimism from Elan boosts market

This positivity all focused around encouraging noises from pharmaceutical company Elan. The drug maker finished the session 1.30 higher at 18.30.

The main financials didn’t make much of an impression on the day to buoy the market. AIB were down 7c to 12.31. Bank of Ireland showed signs of weakness, even with the positive sign of a stronger dollar and sterling exchange rate being apparent, they slipped 11c to 10.34. Anglo were steady enough on 13.12, 3c off the pace.
