BT may bid for Premiership rights

TELECOMS group BT has emerged as a possible bidder for the rights to show Premier League football when the current contract runs out in 2007.

The Observer newspaper said that BT hoped tobeef up its new entertainment division with a parcel of matches picked up as part of an auction of packages.

The entertainment business was set up in January with the aim of offering video-on-demand and pay-TV to broadband customers under the BT brand.
