Fed unlikely to raise US interest rates just yet

EXPECT the US Federal Reserve to delay an increase in interest rates for longer than many expect is the emerging consensus among economists, despite good growth on the jobs front.

In October, 126,000 new jobs were created. That was well above the initial 65,000 market expectation and also slightly ahead of the 125,000 generated in September.

The September figure had been revised upwards, and the October figure is seen as especially encouraging in the context of the debate about recovery in the US.
