Financials help market bounce back

THE Irish market bounced back after the previous day’s downturn. With the financials back in favour the ISEQ closed 36.24 points up to finish the day at 6312.51.

Financials help market bounce back

The main mover in the session was among the financials. Anglo Irish gained over 2%, up 33c to €18.50. AIB advanced 5c to €15.25, while Bank of Ireland added 7c to €12.28. Irish Life & Permanent were also strong on €14.22, edging 17c.

Another strong performer on the day was construction group CRH. With news of the company expecting full-year profit before tax to break €1 billion, they finished 23c higher to €19.83. Food group Kerry rose 30c to €17.95.
