Non-health workers see earnings rise 7.1%

THE average weekly earning of €231,600 public sector workers in non-health areas increased by 7.1% in the year to March.

Figures released yesterday by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show the average weekly wage of workers in the civil service, gardaí, teachers, lecturers and local authority workers was 700.29.

The index of average earnings, which excludes some effects of changes in employment composition, rose by 7.5% in the same period.
