Construction sector improves sharply

BUSINESS conditions in the Irish construction sector improved sharply last month, according to a survey published yesterday.

The Ulster Bank Construction Purchasing Managers Index found July was another good month for the sector and followed the strong performance recorded in June.

The overall index registered 55.6 last month, which was comfortably ahead of the 50.0 mark that represents the difference between positive and negative territory but slightly behind the 56.6 recorded in June.
