Smurfit-Stone suffers €19m loss

SMURFIT-STONE Container Corp, which makes paper and cardboard packaging, posted a first-quarter loss yesterday, blaming lower production levels and higher fibre costs.

It reported a loss of $19 million, or 7 cents a share.

Analysts on average expected the Chicago-based company to post a loss of 7 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates, in line with a company warning earlier this month.
