ROGUE sectors of the economy are being successfully targeted by special new Revenue units, according to the body’s annual report for 2004.

The Revenue Commissioners swooped on operators in a number of sectors last year, including the fishing industry, cash businesses, construction sites and the entertainment industry.

The Special Compliance Districts (SCDs) were set up last year to conduct intelligence and surveillance operations on sectors engaged in fraud and tax evasion.
