Financials the stars of market rally

THE Irish Index continued to sustain figures above the elusive 6,000 barrier, with the ISEQ closing 87.52 points stronger at 6,115.78 yesterday.

The stars of the show were undoubtedly the main financials with Bank of Ireland adding over 3% to its market value finishing at €11.73, up 37c. Likewise AIB advanced 9c to €14.45. Anglo Irish Bank was also upbeat on €16.20, nudging 20c, while IL&P started the week well with a gain of 10c to €13.70.

Pharmaceutical Elan traded well, €1.00 up at €23.80.
