New EU rules on GMO labelling come into effect

NEW European Union rules on the labelling of genetically modified products came into effect yesterday.

The regulations require that all food produce with a genetically modified content of more than 0.9% will have to indicate this on packaging.

Farmers and food packagers everywhere will have to maintain paper trails on genetically altered food products.
