Value of Irish exports falls 3.3% as industrial production drops 1.6%

THERE was bad news for exporters yesterday when figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed the value of Irish exports fell by 3.3% in the first six months of the year.

The CSO added to the gloom with news that industrial production from manufacturing companies was down 1.6% in the three months to June.

Davy stockbrokers said the weaker export figures were likely to drag down economic growth levels for the second quarter.
