Bank customers ‘the big winners’

Customers of high street banks will be the big winners when the “cosy club” is shaken up by competition, Bank of Scotland (Ireland) chief executive Mark Duffy said yesterday.

Mr Duffy said retail customers would see cheaper overdrafts and credit cards with new entrants to the market.

“The dynamics of the Irish banking market are undergoing change,” said Mr Duffy.
