CSO figures reveal retail sales slowdown

THERE was a year-on-year rise of 4.3% in the volume of retail sales in Ireland during the month of October, according to figures published yesterday by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

In monthly terms, there was a decline in volume of 1.5% from September. If the volatile motor trade sector is excluded, the year-on-year increase amounted to 4.9%, while the monthly decline fell to 0.8%.

The value of retail sales, meanwhile, showed a year-on-year rise of 6.3% for October. Once again, there was a monthly decrease from September, lowering by 1.5%.
