Markets soar on news of US jobs

WORLDWIDE markets soared yesterday after employment figures from the US showed 308,000 jobs were created in March.

This was the biggest increase in payroll data in almost four years and was well above the 120,000 rise expected. The ISEQ index surged 92.63 points to close at 5327.47.

Anglo Irish Bank added 53c to €13.53, IL&P rose 60c to €14.00 while AIB closed 35c higher at €12.60. Bank of Ireland lagged slightly, only climbing 10c to €10.42.
