AIB Group jumps 21 cent to €12.60

THE financial sector again proved to be the winning formula in the Irish market, seeing positive progress in yesterday’s session. The Index closed strongly at 5436.80, surging 60.21 points.

AIB Group jumps 21 cent to €12.60

The main leading mover was AIB, jumping 21c to €12.60. Bank of Ireland followed the lead with an increase of 10c on the share price at €10.50, still being encouraged by both dollar and sterling rates moving stronger against the euro. Anglo was also contributing well to market sentiment, ending up 15c to €13.45.

Elan continued to show gains, spurred on by upbeat news filtering from the US in relation to MS drug Antegren. It jumped 35c to €19.20. CRH was up 36c to €17.77.
