Dollar rises against euro and the yen

THE dollar rose against the euro and the yen as reports suggested that economic growth is faltering in Europe and Japan.

A Japanese government report yesterday showed household spending dropped for the second straight month in March. The dollar rose even as the conference board reported a drop in US consumer confidence.
