THE number of people restricted from acting as company directors increased six-fold last year.

According to the 2003 Companies Report, the number of restricted directors rose from 25 in 2002 to 164 last year.

The increase was attributed to the actions of the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE) in his bid to increase compliance with company law.
