Ireland’s business model ‘flawed’

The increases in redundancies and live register figures in January have confirmed that Ireland’s business model is structurally flawed and that employment prospects remain negative, according to the Small Firms Association.

Pat Delaney, director of the IBEC-backed lobby group, said business had lost over 500 jobs every week for 106 weeks in a row.

“This year will be a difficult period for employment, with a further 2,288 job losses already announced in the first month,” he said.
