02 customers to get internet service

O2 pre-pay and post-pay customers will have access to the world’s most widely used mobile internet service, i-mode from next week.

I-mode already has more than 50 million subscribers worldwide. Following its introduction in Japan in 1999, it drove internet penetration levels up from 18% to 78% in the space of five years.

Using i-mode, customers will be able to send and receive email and video messages and browse the web on sites that include AIB, paddypower.com, worldres.com and daft.ie.
