EMI announce 1,500 job cuts

Music group EMI has announced that it plans to shed 1,500 jobs as part of a shake-up of its manufacturing operations.

The group, which has its UK head office in Hammersmith, west London, said it would reduce its head count by about 900 in the Netherlands and the United States as it moves to contract out production of compact discs and DVDs.

A spokesman for the group said “a small fraction” of the job cuts would take place at its sites in the UK, but refused to say how many.
