ISEQ index dips below 6,000 mark

THE Dublin market closed down again yesterday, in a busy day’s trading. The ISEQ index closed down 53.60 to dip below the 6,000 mark and finish at 5992.49.

The financials had a good day in contrast to the exchange as a whole, with leader AIB gaining 7c to €16.17. Rival, Bank of Ireland’s share price, rose by 3c to €12.15. Anglo-Irish advanced 40c, with four million shares traded to rest at €19.30. Irish Life & Permanent dropped 15c to €13.70.

In the construction sector, CRH increased in value by 2c to finish trading at €20.22. Positive news-flow from Kingspan who announced it had raised $200m from US investors shed 8c to cross the line at €9.12. McInerney climbed marginally higher, up 5c to €8.70 while Grafton shed 2c to €9.11.
