Strong retailers help FTSE comeback

STRENGTH in retailers helped British shares to rebound yesterday, with Marks & Spencer among the top blue-chip gainers following signs of improving cost control, margins and food sales, while Burberry led mid-caps on upbeat trading news.

The FTSE 100 share index rose 28.7 points, or 0.6%, to 5,245.9 to claw back all of Tuesday’s fall.
